Recreational Infrastructure Canada Program
May 11, 2009
OTTAWA– Project applications are now being accepted under the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program for upgrades and repairs to local hockey rinks, swimming pools, sport fields and other recreational sites. Project proposals are due by May 29, 2009 and projects needing more time to develop have until June 19, 2009. “Our Conservative Government, through Canada’s Economic Action Plan, is taking steps to reduce the affects of the economic slowdown” said Tom Lukiwski, MP for Regina-Lumsden-Lake Centre.“The Recreational Infrastructure Canada Program will stimulate benefits to the economy, create jobs and contribute to the quality of life right here in Saskatchewan.” Under RInC, the Conservative Government will provide up to one-third of total eligible costs, with a maximum project contribution of $1 million toward projects that will be completed by March 31, 2011. The initial funding allocation under RInC for the West is almost $54 million. Projects will be selected on the basis of merit and construction readiness. The Recreational Infrastructure Canada Program is part of the Conservative Government’s Economic Action Plan; a multi-faceted plan that is providing needed stimulus funding to ensure a quick recovery from the current economic downturn. |
